Legroom is better than first class, it's just missing the free booze! Shame it was for a relatively quick BOS-DTW hop. I'm a giant of a lady (6'3') and I've ample space to stretch my legs, though due to the exit door's shape, angled slightly to the right. Not having an overhead bin over the exit area was useful for not hitting my head on the way in, or disturbing the passenger in 36B when I had to get up to use the lav. I'm an aircraft junkie as well, and love the sound of the thrust reverser on the V2500, so I like being in the back of an MD-90.

One note, as the map suggests that anyone can select the seat at check in, that's not exactly true; you can pay to upgrade to it at any time if your're not of sufficient medallion service up until an hour before the departure time, when it becomes free to select, though it doesn't always work that way via the app or website. Checking with the gate agent or SkyClub concierge is more reliable, and especially for us taller ones, many of those staff (less so at the larger hubs for Delta, perhaps as their supervisors are looking over their shoulders more often I suppose) they'll override it and assign it to you before the hour prior to departure if you're courteous and polite. The staff really make flying Delta a pleasure, from check in to picking up your bag before you head home at the end of the trip.
